My bank card doesn’t like my pro card…

Hi everyone,

How are you all? I hope you’re all knee deep in your summer plans and loving some well needed time off!?

Today’s blog is pretty much just a massive shopping list! I recently became a MAC PRO member, one of the great little perks of this is a cheeky 30% off… So as much as this makes me happy it doesn’t for my bank card! I’ve bought a few bits and pieces recently and MAC has produced some amazing new collections, so I thought I’d take this opportunity to show you some of my amazing new finds!

So I did a couple of looks, something to suit everyone. So the first look…

FACE

Studio Fix NW20; a full coverage foundation that gives a velvet semi matte finish. Great for flawless complexions without a caked appearance.
Prep+Prime in Bright Forecast; this concelear has a warm peach undertone and is perfect for counteracting the blue, dark tones under eye.
Prolongwear concelear NC15; this concelear is literally the bomb! Full coverage but easily blended. I use this to brighten up under the eyes and contour.
Cream colour base in Hush; this is used to give a glossy highlight over the cheekbones and Cupid’s bow.
Maleficent limited sculpting powder (permanent shade replacement “harmony”); this is used as a shadow colour to contour under cheek bones, forehead. Perfect for paler complexions.
Dainty blusher; used on the apples of the cheeks.
Fix plus spray; I tend not to powder with studio fix as it’s a filler coverage so I give myself a fees sprits with this baby leaving the foundation looking dewy and healthy but in placed all day!

EYES Kelly Osbourne limited edition quad (this was a limited palette but there’s always permanent shades similar!)

Prolongwear concelear used to prep the eye area
Femme fetale; used as a “transition” shade in the socket. Using a transition shade brightens up the shadow of the socket and helps blend all other darker colours when trying to create a smokey eye.
Embark; using this shade all over the eyelids no higher than the crease. Use small amounts applied to the lid and buffed out with a clean blending brush for a seamless smokey eye.
Sexy eyes; use from inner to outer corner and blended with Embark to add more smoke!
Lashes are a couple of coats of Barry M Vegas lash and two sets of lashes!
Eyebrows as always are shaped with Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow wiz in taupe and pomade in chocolate to fill.

Second look…

FACE

BB cream compact in shade light; this is really high up on my list of BB creams I’m in love with. Available In lighter shades it applies beautifully and gives a light, fresh coverage.
Prep+Prime in light boost; this is used on all the high points of the face (cheeks, chin, brows, nose) to lightly highlight the face with out too heavy a contour.
Prolong wear concelear; used under eyes as in look 1.
Cream colour base in hush; again used as previously.
Warm soul blusher; used on the edge of the cheekbones and swept upwards, giving a lifted cheek rather than a flush.
Studio Fix powder NW20; to add a but more coverage and a more matte finish over my central areas.

EYES; Kelly Osbourne

Prolongwear concelear is used to prep the eye area. If you’re like me this is great for covering up the redness the eczema leaves on my skin but it also contains an eyeshadow primer!
Femme fetale; this shade is used in the socket, it’s a fantastic warm shade which is perfect for using as a “transition” colour.
Sexy eyes; this is used all over the eye lid. A gorgeous shimmery peach, perfect for all eye colours.
Sweet eyes; a perfect highlighting shade used in the corner of the eye and brow bone.
Embark; is blended underneath the eye with a little bit of Femme fetale.

Lashes and brows are as above!

Let’s colour!!!

Hello all! Skirting out on my blogging duties again I’m afraid! But I suppose it just means that each time I do it means a much bigger, fatter blog as an apology!

And today’s is no exception! We’ve gone through the soft pastels of spring and now summer’s trend has explosions of colour all over your face!! The market is absolutely full of new and bright products from the top to toe, so whether you like your colour a little more understated on your nails or bold on your eyes and lips there’s something out there for everyone!

If you do like something a little more on the delicate side, try painting your nails with a bright jazzy colour. Painting your nails can be such an expressive way of having a bit of colour or even clashing with what you are wearing without it being as obvious. And good old Barry M is here to help! They’ve taken out a new range of “gelly” nail polishes. Designed to give you a gel polish high shine finish and colour. And with a massive 27 shades you’ll be spoiled for choice! Personal favourites are number 18 a hot orange and 15 a deep teale!

20140508-115854.jpg

And if you’re felling a bit bolder here’s a recent discovery of mine…

20140508-115949.jpg

Daniel Sandler’s watercolour blushers. I purchased a couple in more wearable colours (Chic and Mayfair) and they are just gorgeous. Really pigmented and easily buffed into the skin they give the cheeks a radiant glow rather than some powdery blushers. These bright beauties “Acid” and “Trip” look radioactive but are actually a little bit more delicate in and on the flesh.

Most summer collections will usually have the odd pink and turquoise and I find are so samie! This years collections have certainly gone a little bit more radio active too. 2 of my favourite on counter collections have to be YSL les blues lumiere and Chanel Reflets d’ete de Chanel. (Biased I know!)

These collections have just blown me away between the eye palette from YSL which is packed full of cool, rich blues and hot oranges (which by the way are just the most amazing clashing colour combination.. Promise! You won’t look like an Irn-Bru can!)

20140508-121019.jpg

And Chanel’s nail and lip combination…. There moto for the collection is “mix.match.mismatch” and I can see why! Those with slight OCD would want to match…

Sweet lilac and Hello… It does as it says on the tin! a sugary lilac combination.
Tutti fruitti and Sexy… A jazzy coral .
Pink tonic and Happy… A vibrant hot pink.
Mirabella amd sunny… A blood red orange.

Or those of you who like to mix it up…

20140508-121500.jpg

Or if you’re like me and can’t choose… I be wearing it ALL!!!

And last, brightest but certainly not least you have the holy explosion of radioactive colour which is the urban decay electric palette!!

20140508-121745.jpg

This palette has taken the market and every MUA by storm! It’s chock full of 10 vibrant velvety shades that have massive pay off! My Instagram feed is full of make up enthusiast using this palette and I don’t think I’ve seen the same combination twice.

One of my favourite beauty bloggers did a tutorial actually using this palette and a few other things on this blog which I have linked as it’s useful to see. Colour is so hot (pardon the pun) right now and it’s so worth playing around and finding what you are comfortable with. I have always said there are no rights and wrongs when it comes to make up as it should be fun. However there are how to’s and not to’s so that’s why watching tutorials can keep you in check when it comes to colour. More coco cabana than coco the clown!

http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Sls_8FLq4iU

So have a watch of the tutorial… Sorry it’s not my own… We have workmen in at the moment so it’s not the most ideal background noise! But the gorgeous Sam from Pixiwoo will take more than good care of you. However I did dable in the colour department as it’s not usually my thing… And I must say I could be converted! As always thanks for reading! Happy spending. Always let me know if you do purchase anything I’ve mentioned, I love knowing its useful!

Oldie but goodie…

You just can’t beat a classic! I have searched high and low for the all time blackest of black eyeshadow… Not slightly grey, not blue or green when it’s blended but BLACK!! So when one of my favourite ladies says she doesn’t want her MAC carbon eyeshadow anymore I was more than obliging to take it off her hands!

MAC carbon is extremely black and because its matte has even more colour pay off, it really is one of the best black eyeshadows I have found. It works great on a flat edged or diagonal liner brush as a liner or….

On an amazingly black smokey eye like I was dying to do since I go it! I won’t go into tutorial mode but as you can see all the products coordinate with the steps I took in creating this smokey eye! Apologies for the light…. but I must dash, this look was created in honour of girls cocktail night! Thanks for listening, chat to you all later!

Chanel

The new season Chanel collection “l’ete papillon de Chanel” hit the counters last Friday and personally I think it’s awesome! Having worked for Chanel for almost 5 years, I still hold the company dear to my heart and still have a soft spot for their new collection releases, but this one speaks for its self. Based on the effect and colours that butterfly wings can give the collection holds the typical blue and coral tones that most of the cosmetics summer collections produce,  however… Peter Phillips (global creative make up artist) has turned them on their head! Opting for a more electric blue and a punchy orange than coral.

One of my favourite parts to the collection are a range of cream eyeshadows “Stylo Eyeshadow”. These eyeshadows come in a solid twist up pen and can be drawn onto the eyes. They can be used. As a shadow on their own or as an incredible base. The texture is cool and creamy, on first application it feels wet giving the eye a cooling sensation. Perfect for our summer sun… Ha. They come in a fan range of colours, starting from the top “Black Stream” a crystallised jet black, “Blue Bay” an electric blue, “Jade Shore” a jade, mint green, “Moon River” a gorgeous metallic taupe, “Cool Gold” a slightly yellow based gold and finally “Pink Lagoon” a soft baby pink.

photo (31)

Nails and lips tend to be the summer fling we all have, but this year Peter has tried to divert us. With a gorgeous range of eyeshadows paired with the most beautiful coloured mascaras! Now looking at the picture there’s obviously one that’s screaming out at you… Yellow. I don’t think we’re quite there in terms of wearing yellow mascara but it looks pretty… The rest of the collection however is stunning. These coloured mascaras can be worn on their own for maximum intensity or on the tips of the lashes over your normal black. Coloured mascaras are a great alternative to eyeshadow, using the right colour can really make your eyes stand out and it’s much less hard work!

photo (32)

The rest of the collection boasts 3 gorgeous new nail polishes. 2 metallic blues, one turquoise “Azure” and one royal “Bel Argus”, and one bright zesty orange “Lilis”. There are 5 lip items, all slightly creamy or glossy textured, both textures come in a range of soft pinks and peaches with a hit of a hot pink. And lastly another gorgeous eye product, a waterproof eye liner in a royal marine blue. The nails and lips are all perfect colours for summer but I definitely think in this collection the eyes are doing all the talking.

When I worked for Chanel, I was incredibly lucky. I worked for one of the top fashion houses in the world created by one of the most incredible woman in the world. I had the opportunity to train at the Chanel academy and work with some of the most talented and successful people in this industry. I was trained as a specialist under the Peter Phillips rule and I feel quite sad that I find this collection absolutely gorgeous when it’s a shame it’s his last one for Chanel.

If you haven’t been in and bought the whole collection… Or at least seen it, please do with caution!! May result in a loss of your well earned money! Thanks for listening, arrivederci!
